Day 1: USA
Start your journey at JFK or Newark Airport. Meals will be served aboard overnight flight.
Day 2: Milan
Upon arrival at the Milan Airport the group will be transferred by deluxe motor coach to the hotel. The balance of the day will be at leisure with time for shopping, personal sightseeing or relaxation. Enjoy dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Milan. (D)
Day 3: Milan
After breakfast depart for a guided sightseeing tour of one of Italy’s largest cities, including the Duomo, Milan's magnificent basilica. Mass will be celebrated here, St. Charles Borromeo’s place of burial. Visit also to see the famous Leonardo da Vinci painting of the "Last Supper" in the Dominican refractory. Dinner on your own and overnight in Milan. (B)
Day 4: Milan / Arona / Milan
After breakfast depart for to Arona, the birthplace of St. Charles Borromeo. Born in 1538, he died in 1584. Visit a number of sites associated with the Borromeo family including the statue of St. Charles called Sancarlone. Visit also to the church of the Collegiata della Natività di Maria Vergine which has paintings of the life of St. Charles Borromeo. Dinner and overnight in Milan. (B, D)
Day 5: Milan / Assisi
Depart Milan after breakfast for Assisi, the town closely associated with the life of St. Francis. A tour will include visits to the Basilica of St. Francis (view the exquisite artwork of Giotto), the Convent of St. Clare, and the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels with Portiuncula chapel. Dinner and overnight in Assisi. (B, D)
Day 6: Assisi / Rome
After breakfast depart for Rome, the Eternal City. After breakfast enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour of Rome from the motor coach, including important sights like the Piazza Venezia, Circus Maximus, Forum, Arch of Constantine and Colosseum. Also enjoy visits to three of the four major Basilicas of Rome: St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, St. John Lateran and St. Mary Major. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B, D)
Day 7: Rome
Enjoy a guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica and the world famous Vatican Museums including the Sistine Chapel. The afternoon is free to explore the “Eternal City” on your own with time for personal sightseeing, shopping or relaxation. Dinner and overnight in Rome. (B, D)
Day 8: Rome/ USA
Depart Rome after breakfast for U.S. Arrive home same day. (B)
